Unzip’d reimagines the universally familiar smiley face through color, dimensionality, and unexpected materials. Against a luminous white, candy-coated panel, two sculptural rainbow eyes and a sweeping pink zipper form an expression that is instantly recognizable—yet unlike any smiley face we know.

Each eye is hand-cast in layers of translucent resin, building concentric bands of blue, green, yellow, and red into dimensional forms that shift in color and depth as the viewer changes perspective. Their glossy surfaces capture and transmit light, giving the eyes an almost luminous quality against the pristine white ground.

Below them, a vivid pink zipper curves into an exaggerated smile. Partially unzipped at one end, the familiar functional object becomes both line and expression, introducing a playful suggestion that this face might be capable of revealing something more.
